The EPA estimates that Americans spend 90% of their time indoors; however it always seems the media and many public resources are focused on outdoor air pollution. We depend on the air we breathe to be healthy air. But what if it’s not? How will you know? There are a lot of simple things you can do to contribute to healthy indoor air. The EPA has a Website devoted to IAQ, which has statistics that divulge just how much of an impact the quality of our indoor air has on our lives.

Do you know the indoor air quality (IAQ) of your home or building? Do you and/or other occupants suddenly have allergy or other vague health symptoms that you didn’t have before?

Your indoor environment should be free from toxins so the air around you isn’t compromising your health. By professional inspection and testing for mold and other potentially harmful contaminants, E3 can arm you with the knowledge of how and what changes you can make to encourage a healthier existence.

If you’re concerned about the quality of your indoor air, don’t guess about what to do – look for professional help! Companies liked E3 are emerging because there is a growing problem in our homes and offices. As awareness of mold and indoor air quality problems grows, so does the need for professional investigation and reliable testing.

Seeing is Believing: Thermal Imaging
E3 uses thermal imaging as an aid, which is an outstanding way to provide accurate and reliable results during IAQ investigations. The proper use of this technology can help cut investigation time significantly; we have the ability to examine roofs, floors, and walls for moisture intrusions and/or electrical problems. This technology does not utilize x-ray technology, but instead uses the variances in temperature to accurately pinpoint potential problems.

Though this equipment cannot readily detect mold – one of the biggest problems in indoor air quality – it does quickly and accurately identify the conditions necessary for mold to be present. By identifying variances in surface temperature, thermal imaging has the ability to help us quickly find moisture traps. The differences in the surface temperatures often mean that there has recently been a moisture incursion and that variance in the temperature of the moisture present behind the surface is affecting the surface temperature.

Using this technology is also an asset in remediation and restoration, as thermal imaging is extremely useful to ensure that the building structure has been thoroughly dried out. If walls within a home/building are not completely dried, microbial problems will continue to be a problem because the conditions necessary for mold growth are still present. Once the problem is identified, it is extremely important to correct the problem that caused the moisture problem in the first place – infrared technology now gives us the ability to quickly asses the thoroughness of the completed job. The thermal imaging camera can help determine if a wall was dried properly after remediation, which in turn saves time and money by preventing investigator or contractor re-visits.
